This kitchen was functional for this couple, but still felt unfinished. I knew the perfect way to add color in this particular space without doing any major renovations was through a backsplash.
The clients love to travel and appreciate hand-crafted goods so that gave me some design direction. They also did not want to change their countertops or cabinets so I needed to choose tile with a complimentary color palette. I showed the clients a few different options, but they settled on a 3” x 6” subway tile with a light crackle and a hand-painted accent tile. I suggested a warm white grout color instead of paper white to match the color temperature of the tile.
